2010 Cultural Olympiad
A mere 88 hours after the launch of Chansons Irisées, it was off to Vancouver and the 2010 Olympics, a trip of a lifetime and breathtakingly brilliant in so many ways. You could feel the energy and excitement on every street corner and the pride from all across the country (and planet), cheering everyone on.
There were several pinnacle moments; playing in quintet on the Air Canada Stage with the lightshow from heaven, then representing the province at La Place de la Francophonie, not to mention two packed shows at the Atlantic Canada House that would make any Easterner mighty proud. To top it all off, the week ended with a last minute invitation to perform four songs LIVE on the national CBC Radio show Espace Musique, hosted by the affable Monique Giroux.
But la crème de la crème was sharing the whole experience with my brother Paddy who played two weeks running at the Atlantic Canada House, entertaining the masses and keeping all hands back home informed with his hourly Facebook postings! We were both so thrilled to be back on the left coast together, doing what we love to do so passionately.
