Voice Artist ...

The dulcet tones of Mary Barry's distinctive voice have been used in Multimedia for more than three decades. She started out as a freelance broadcaster with CBC Radio in Newfoundland & Labrador, eventually hosting her own radio show called Keynotes for five seasons. In the early 1990's, she started working as a voice-over artist doing Commercials, Voice Messaging, and Industrial videos in French and English. Hers was the voice of two provincial political campaigns, both successful!

Near the end of the 1990's she landed a contract in Vancouver narrating fifteen documentaries with World Vision Canada, and at the time was christened “The Voice of World Vision”. Barry continued into the next decade doing myriad narrations, including the John Doyle/Memorial University documentary entitled Reaching Out, which won the AMTEC Award of Excellence. She also started voicing for Animation, a natural offshoot from her career as a puppeteer and children's theatre actor.

In 2005, she returned to her native Newfoundland and joined host Gordon Pinsent as the narrator for Legends and Lore of the North Atlantic (watch below), a thirteen episode television series produced by Global TV/Pope Productions. Soon after, she ventured into the world of Audio Books, receiving rave reviews for voicing Below the Bridge by Helen Fogwell Porter (Rattling Books). In 2019, Barry travelled to London, England to attend the international voice-over conference "One Voice Conference". Mary Barry currently resides in St. John's, Newfoundland.

The voice that won my election! - Brian Tobin, former Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador.
